Way back in the 80's during the first summer that me and Papa Syder first met we used to play tennis together most evenings. We were both very competitive and would play night after night, desperate to prove who was the better player. As the years went by we continued to play but then we had kids in tow, who would also really enjoy a spot of tennis over our local park.

As the kids have grown we haven't played tennis together in years, then I heard about a fabulous campaign for the whole family from the Tennis Lawn Association, the Great British Tennis Weekend – Saturday 16 July & Sunday 17 July. Basically, you can sign up the whole family to pop along to your nearest club and try some tennis for free. #GBTW allows parents and kids to get outside, try something new and learn a few moves. How much fun does that sound!
Thousands of free events will be taking place throughout the summer, all over the UK with activities like Highland Spring Mini Tennis Sessions, Family time, free play, cardio tennis and loads more to get involved with. Rackets and balls will be provided. You can find out where your nearest events are on the Great British Tennis Weekend website.
The hubs and I decided to get outside for a game of tennis and try our local court. We are eager to get fit for our summer holiday and boy did we build up a sweat on the court. Not quite as light on our toes as we once were but we had a giggle and we really enjoyed trying to be seventeen again. We will definitely be returning to the court and next time we will bring our Granddaughter after we have signed up for a #GBTW session at our local club.
