Light Strike Gaming System Review

Remember Laser Quest? I remember it well as Papa was once (many moons ago) the chief lane Tech at our local Bowling Alley that also had a Laser Quest, so on quiet days we were allowed to go play. It was really popular during the 90's, both my Boys had birthday parties there and my younger Brothers had a version that they played at home...great fun and we had lots of laughs.

Great memories that Thanks to Wow Wee Toys, (the people behind Paper Jamz and Robosapienan) you can now recreate for your own kids with Light Strike, an interactive gaming system that brings video games into the real world, live and in colour.

So basically armed with a Assault Striker you can either play individual challenges, one-on-one or with more Assault Strikers you can get a group together and create the ultimate team battle.

Now this game isn't for the faint hearted, it takes a lot of running around, hiding, aiming and firing at each other and I wont be daft enough to suggest that its only for Boys as my 11yr old Daughter loves it.

The Assault Strikers come with built in weapon features such as:
*Activate shield to take less damage from enemies
*Unlimited ammo
*Health meter tracks remaining life
*Re spawn when health hits zero
*Interactive lights and sounds that put you on the battlefield
*Play indoors or outside
*Perfect your aim with included light-up and sound FX target

There are a  a range of battle accessories available that simply attach to the Assault Strikers which include:
Grenade launcher -  Defeat enemies with one super shot, Real recoil action , Gain tactical advantage.
Bipod Machine Gun/Rapid Fire - Rapid-fire super ammo provides major blasts, Real recoil action, Gain tactical advantage.
Scope - Doubles range to up to 100 feet (30 meters), Targeting system ensures you hit your mark, Adds element of surprise.
Enemy Scanner Detector - Detect enemy movement within 20-30 feet (7-10 meters), Get them before they get you, Gain tactical advantage.

Light Strike ITS - Team up for Capture the Flag matches with I.T.S. (Intelligent Targeting System). Choose a game: Medic, Sentry or Bomb. Blast the ITS to store your colour and defend it from enemies trying to steal it. Each mode provides a special tactical advantage to the winning team, like increased damage to enemies.
*I.T.S. rotates for added challenge
*Multiple built-in games that reward winning team with advantages
*Sentry mode: I.T.S. scans for enemies and blasts them
*Medic mode: I.T.S. regenerates health
*Bomb mode: I.T.S. sends out explosive burst of damage to enemies
*Interactive lights and sounds that put you on the battlefield

OK, OK so I've bigged this toy up and you now want to know if there are any down sides to going out and parting with your cash. Well, It does take an awful lot of batteries but you could invest in a charger and a load of re-chargeable batteries (Which is what we are planning on doing). Also it is a bit pricey but both Papa and I agree it would make a really appreciated main Christmas pressie.
