The Sky At Night - Sunset At Appledore, North Devon

The weather has been baking hot,  so last night we all decided to go and watch the sun setting. The sunsets here in Appledore are simply stunning.

Papa Syder and the kids admiring the red sky.
The kids sit quietly and enjoy the waves crashing.

When Valentine Warner Visited Appledore

So, there I was relaxing in my living room, crochet hook in hand surrounded by balls of pink fluffy wool, when youngest Daughter came running into the house shouting "Mum, Mum! There are people in next doors garden filming a cookery programme for the BBC!!!!"

I jumped up and made my way out to the kitchen, discreetly trying to take some photo's from the window without the crew thinking that I was some sort of crazed, stalker housewife. I said to Papa "That chef looks so familiar, I wonder if he is a celebrity chef?" Then it struck me. It was celebrity chef Valentine Warner from the BBC show 'What To Eat Now'.

How exciting!

Its not everyday you spot a celebrity in your back yard!

A Mini Woodland Hike

We have decided to get fit as a family

So we are making the most of our surrounding countryside
A 4 mile coastal wooded walk

We past the abandoned ships
And took a closer look
Up the steps...
And down a slipway
Back on the path...
And deep into the woods
Higher & Higher we go...
Then back down again...
"Oh Mum...I'm worn out!"
"How much further?"
More climbing...
To get back onto the road home

A Warm Walk

The weather was lovely and warm today so we set off for a walk

Papa and Master N had a look at all the boats

Miss C found an old crab shell

Master N helped her look for more

We were getting peckish and headed home to put on the sunday roast

And when we got home a big cargo ship was sailing past our window

We love it when a big boat goes past and we are really gonna miss seeing them so close when we move.

Harry The Worm

Meet Harry The Worm. We found him on the road while we we were walking home from school. The kids were of course thrilled with our discovery wanted to keep him as a pet.

The slow-worm has suffered dramatic declines in recent decades, mainly due to habitat loss and intensive land-use so Papa went with the girls to make sure he was put in a safe place.
