The Serenity of Yellow

I have walked past the village church hundreds of times and never really took the time to take a proper look at the grounds. I love the architecture of old churches and the bright yellow petals of the Forsythia bush was enticing me in.

It is so pretty with the sun shining on it.

We had a roam around the grounds.

It was purely serene.

A very peaceful place.

Mothers Day 2009

R.I.P Mum X

Sunday was Mothers Day and I woken up to double egg on toast. My favourite breakfast, what a treat. Cards and choccies followed. I felt spoiled. My thoughts quickly turned to my Mum and how much I miss her and so desperately wish I could spend Mothers day with her.

I turned on the News and saw the sad news of Jade Goodys death. I have been following her story and her battle against cervical cancer and watching her the pass few months took me back to mums struggle with uterine cancer. Ive cried so much for poor Jade and her family. Its just so tragic, she was a truly courageous woman.

R.I.P Jade

Anyway Papa asked me what I would like to do today and I quickly said "Lets go to Northam Burrows" The weather was lovely and I could do with the fresh air.

There were mummy sheep and baby lambs everywhere.

Lambs feeding...

And we think this black lamb was recently born...

because it was struggling to get up and walk. And papa got close and spotted that it was covered in what he called goo. A very fitting sight for Mothers Day. Witnessing a lambs Mother cleaning her newborn was wonderful.

We reached the beach, after we tore ourselves away from the sheep.

A spot of sandcastle construction.

The views are just breathtaking.

Happy Mothers Day everyone X

Rock Pooling In North Devon

We awoke to more beautiful sunshine today. The Teenager went out with her friends so we walked down to the rock pools to see what we could find.

Firstly lot's and lot's of periwinkles.

We needed to get right in the pools to find some more interesting stuff.

Papa spotted some beadlet anemones.

Beautiful fiery red tentacles

We were fascinated by them.

So pretty.

This one has had enough of our poking and prodding and is retracting.

Then Little Miss stumbled across a whelk unusually still inside its shell.

Little Miss was so excited that she fell in the rock pool trying to get at it.

We had a good look then little Miss put it back safely into the rock pool.

Walking on sunshine!

The weather the past week has been glorious and everyday after school we have been down the beach and loving every second of this warm spell.

A quick sandcastle papa before we dip our toes.

Miss C & Papa roll up their trousers and head out towards the waters edge.

Come on Miss C lets wash our feet and head home, my tummy is rumbling.

The water is so warm and clear, perfect for feet washing.

But hang on a minute...where you off to C?

Cant go home without writing my name in the sand Mum.

Have a peek in the rock pools for any fishes.

Pack up my fishing gear.

And start to head home for dinner.

We must be mad leaving this beautiful place!

Red Nose Day

Its that time of year again.
Red nose day was yesterday
A time when everyone can be silly & funny and no-one will bat an eyelid.

Lots of money is being raised and my favourite money raiser this year has got to be the 9 Uk Celebrities who climbed Kilimanjaro and raised a whopping £3,326,142!
Its my favourite because it is something I would LOVE to do. Maybe one day I will, who knows.
Click here for a short film of the celebrities getting ready for their climb!
Miss K and her friends did their own bit for red nose day and all dressed the same for school in bright illuminus colors...
Those leg warmers take me back to when I waws her age!

Its been a while...

Its been a while since I last blogged. I have been busy looking for a new house.
Yes you read that right. We have come to the decision that family and friends are just too far away.

It has been an agonising decision because Devon life is wonderful. Our village is idyllic and the people here are so welcoming and friendly but we long for time with everyone back in Essex. Its especially heartbreaking not living close to our eldest Master J and Granddaughter not to mention all the new additions that are here and on their way.

Essex will also be so much closer to Papa's family in Cambridgeshire. Its far to much of a trek for them here in Devon especially Papa's mum who will find it difficult travelling this far.So here we go again. Goodbye to the views and hello to our gorgeous new house that I have found us.
